Christmas Special Lamb Curry is made with lamb cubes slow simmered in a magnificent combination of Indian whole spices and powdered spices. This dish can be served with rice or any Indian bread of your choice.

This recipe is one of personal favorite and the dark reddish color, silky texture of the gravy and aroma of the spices make it irresistible to anyone’s taste buds. I must tell you that this recipe is spicy (hot) , but you may adjust the amount of chilly powder as per your taste.

Christmas Special Lamb Curry With Step By Step Photos..

1.Heat up oil in a pot, add cinnamon and cloves.

2.Add onion and cook until nicely browned.

3.Add lamb and cook over a high flame for 2-3 minutes.

4.Add powdered spices, cook over a low flame until the raw flavor goes off.

5.Add tomatoes.

6.Cover with a lid and cook over a simmering flame.

7.Remove the lid and check at regular intervals. Add water if necessary.

8.Cook until the lamb is tender. Adjust seasoning and serve.

Christmas Special Lamb Curry


  • Vegetable oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Cloves – 3
  • Cinnamon stick- 1 inch piece
  • Cumin seeds – 1 Tsp
  • Onion – 2 medium, chopped
  • Ginger-garlic paste – 1 Tsp
  • Lamb – 750 gms, diced
  • Coriander powder – 1 Tsp
  • Cumin powder – 1/2 Tsp
  • Turmeric – 3/4 Tsp
  • Chilly powder – 2 Tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 Tsp
  • Tomato – 2 medium, chopped
  • Salt to taste


  1. Heat up a pot, add vegetable oil.
  2. Add cloves, cinnamon stick and cumin seeds.
  3. Cook for a minute and add onion and salt.
  4. Lower the flame and cook until onions are nicely browned.
  5. Add ginger and garlic paste.
  6. Cook for a minute.
  7. Bring the flame to high heat and add lamb cubes.
  8. Stir fry until the lamb is nicely browned.
  9. It should take about 3-4 minutes.
  10. Now lower the heat to slow, add powdered spices.
  11. Cook until the raw flavor goes off.
  12. Then add chopped tomatoes.
  13. Cook on medium heat until the tomatoes become mushy.
  14. Add half a cup of hot water and bring to boil.
  15. Then cover with a lid and cook until the lamb is tender.
  16. If you think the gravy is thin, cook without the lid until you get the desired consistency.
  17. Serve hot an enjoy your lamb curry
