Quick & Easy Dahi Chicken recipe with step by step photos..

1.To make the marinade-mix yogurt, chilly ,coriander, garam masala,salt and garlic paste.

2.Add chicken to it and mix well. Leave it for 30 minutes.

3.Heat oil, fry dry chilly first and add chopped red chilly

4.Chopped onion-cook for a minute. Then add coriander powder, chilly powder and garam masala.Cook for a minute.

5.Add tomatoes. Cook till mushy.

6.Add chicken. Cook over a medium heat for 3-4 minutes.

7.Add a cup of water. Cover with a lid and cook till chicken is tender.

8.Add chopped coriander leaves.

9.Adjust seasoning and serve.

  • Yogurt – 2 Tbsp
  • Chilly powder – 1 Tsp
  • Cumin powder- 1 Tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 Tsp
  • Garlic paste – 1 Tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Chicken breast boneless – 700 gms, diced
  • Vegetable oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Dry red chilly – 3
  • Green or red chilly – 3 chopped
  • Onion – 1 cup, chopped
  • Tomato – 1/2 cup, chopped
  • Coriander leaves – 1 Tbsp, chopped


  1. Take yogurt in a bowl, add chilly powder, coriander powder, garlic paste, salt and garam masala powder
  2. Mix well to incorporate all the ingredients, add diced chicken to it.
  3. Mix together the chicken and marinade and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  4. To cook the chicken, heat up a medium sized vessel.
  5. Add dried red chilly and let it fry for 30 seconds.
  6. Then add green chilly or red chilly and cook for a minute.
  7. Now add chopped onions and cook for a  minute.
  8. Add salt, 1/4 tsp each of chilly powder, coriander powder and garam masala.
  9. Cook over a slow flame until the raw flavor goes off.
  10. Then add chopped tomatoes and cook over a medium flame.
  11. Cook until tomato becomes mushy.
  12. Add marinated chicken, increase the flame to medium.
  13. Cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  14. Add 1/2 cup of water and bring to a boil.
  15. Once it has come to a boil, reduce to simmer.
  16. Cover the pot with a lid and cook until done.
  17. Remove the lid, check for doneness.
  18. Adjust seasoning and finish with chopped coriander leaves.
