Lemon Chicken, Punjabi Style recipe with step by step photos..

1.Heat oil, fry cumin seeds.

2.Add onion, cook for a minute.

3.Add ginger and garlic paste. Cook for  a minute

4.Add red chilly or green chilly.

5.Add turmeric, coriander, garam masala and chilly powder.

6.Add a splash of water and cook well.

7.Add chicken cubes.

8.Add crushed black pepper.

9.Cook over a medium flame for 3-4 minutes.

10.Add a cup of water and cook till chicken is done.

11.Add lemon juice.

12.Add chopped coriander leaves. Cook for another 2 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Vegetable oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Cumin seeds -3/4 Tsp
  • Red onion – 1 cup , sliced
  • Ginger and garlic paste – 1 Tsp
  • Red chilly (or green chilly)- 3, slit
  • Turmeric powder – 3/4 Tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1 Tsp
  • Chilly powder – 3/4 Tsp
  • Garam masala– 1/2 Tsp
  • Chicken breast – 500 gms , diced
  • Crushed black pepper – 1 Tsp
  • Lemon juice – 1 Tbsp
  • Coriander leaves – 1 Tbsp, chopped
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Heat up a skillet, add vegetable oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add cumin seeds.
  3. Fry for a minute, add sliced onions.
  4. Cook onions for a minute, add salt.
  5. Add ginger and garlic paste, cook for a minute.
  6. Add red chilly slit and cook for a minute.
  7. Now add turmeric, chilly, coriander and garam masala powder.
  8. Cook over a low flame for about 2 minute or until the raw flavor goes off.
  9. Add a splash of water if needed.
  10. Add diced chicken and crushed black pepper corns.
  11. Increase the flame to medium and cook for about 3-4 minutes.
  12. Now add half a cup of water, reduce the flame to slow and cook
  13. Cook until the chicken is tender and soft.
  14. Add lemon lemon juice, chopped coriander.
  15. Adjust the seasoning and serve hot.
