White Fish Fry/ Parava Fry

White fish is marinated with powdered spices, gingergarlic paste , freshly ground black pepper, lemon juice and then deep fried.

No one should really doubt me when it comes to eating fish- how much can I go eat? I just go eat as much as I can, as long as  the fish is fresh. Well, I always get fresh fish, thanks to the long stretch of coastline in Kerala. This time around we have been getting good quality while fish consistently  and deep frying is the best way to enjoy them.

Ingredients

  • White fish/ parava – 1 Kg or 4 each
  • Turmeric – 1 Tsp
  • Chilly powder – 1 Tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1/2 Tsp
  • Gingergarlic paste- 1 Tbsp
  • Lemon juice – Tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Oil for frying

Directions

  1. Clean, wash and cut the fish.
  2. Slit the fish diagonally.
  3. To make the marinade, mix together powdered spices, lemon juice, gingergarlic paste and salt.
  4. Apply the marinade very well on both the side.
  5. Refrigerate the fish for 30 minutes before frying.
  6. Heat oil, slowly add the fish in to the oil.
  7. When the first side done, flip over and fry the other side as well.
  8. Serve hot garnished with onion and lemon wedges.
