Star Fruit / Carambola Salad

I was not really sure how the salad was going to turn out to be as I normally use fruits for making desserts. But, the combination worked out really well. So, when star fruits are in season, make sure to this recipe.

Star fruit or Carambola is a typical fruit and is widely grown in Asian tropical countries. The star shaped fruit is used in many recipes (fruit salads, jams and pickles are the most famous) and also used to garnish (decorate) drinks, cocktails and mocktails. In Kerala, star fruit is available during the season, I normally get it local/road side vendors as not all super markets are storing star fruit.

The health benefits of star fruits are not to forget- good for tooth ache, throat infection, cough etc and have been using in Ayurvedic medicine from centuries.
