Spicy Sprouts Salad

A very easy to make, at the same time a very healthy salad recipe and yes! a perfect salad for the summer time.Even though the sprouts are readily available at the super markets, the sprouts made at home would taste better and most of all you feel as if you have taken something healthy.

In this recipe I have used both mung bean sprouts and black chick peas sprouts and both were made at home. I have given a complete Indian touch to the recipe by adding chopped green chilies and  curry flavored dressing to it.

Ingredients

  • Mung bean sprouts – 150 gms
  • Black chick peas sprouts – 150 gms
  • Onion – 100 gms, medium diced.
  • Carrots – 50 gms, medium diced.
  • Green chilly – 2 pcs
  • Mixed green – 100 gms
  • Curry dressing- 50 ml(see the direction for the recipe)
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste

Directions

  1. To make the sprouts, soak both mung beans and chick peas over night,next day drain the water and spread them on plate cover the wet napkin. Sprinkle water at least 4 times a day for 3 days and you have sprouts ready for your salad.
  2. In a bowl combine mixed green, sprouts, onions and carrots. Add the curry dressing and mix well.
  3. To make the curry dressing, heat oil in a skillet,  add 1 Tsp of chilly powder,turmeric ,1/2 Tsp coriander powder and cook well a very slow fire. Cool down the mixture, incorporate salad oil slowly into the curry mixture. Season well.
  4. Gently toss the sprouts, onions, carrots with dressing and check the seasoning.

Note: You can skip the chilly to make it non-spicy.
