Potato and Broccoli Masala

Potato and broccoli is a semi-dry dish made with potato, broccoli and Indian spices.

  • Potato – 450 gms
  • Broccoli – 200 gms
  • Oil- 1 Tbsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1 Tbsp
  • Onion – 2 medium, sliced
  • Turmeric powder – 1 Tbsp
  • Cumin powder – 1 Tbsp
  • Coriander powder – 1/2 Tbsp
  • Chilly powder – 1 Tbsp
  • tomatoes – 1 medium, chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Coriander leaves – 1 Tbsp, chopped


  1. Peel the skin and cut potatoes.
  2. Slice onions, cut broccoli into florets and set aside.
  3. In a skillet, heat oil and add all the powdered spices.
  4. Cook until you get the cooked flavor.
  5. Add sliced onion and cook for 2 minutes on a slow flame.
  6. Add the potatoes and cook for a minute.
  7. Add water just enough to cover the potatoes.
  8. Cook on a simmering fire until half done.
  9. Add broccoli and continue to cook.
  10. When the potatoes and broccoli are cooked and the gravy is beginning to become thick, add tomatoes and chopped coriander, mix well.
  11. Adjust the seasoning.
  12. Serve hot.

Saute onions together with cooked powdered spices until the onions are transparent.


Add potatoes and cook for a minute…


Add water,  just enough to cover the potatoes and cook on a simmering fire..


When the potatoes are half done, add broccoli and continue to cook..
