I am big lover of any rice dish which is cooked together with meat in it. I have been thinking about making this dish for a very long time. Finally, I have made it today and I am sure you will enjoy making this at home.

One Pot Spicy Chicken Rice

A very easy to make dish involving very simple steps. I have just used one powdered spice, which is the turmeric powder. Believe me, the depth of flavor it gives out when used alone in a dish is absolutely brilliant.

One Pot Spicy Chicken Rice with step by step photos..

1.Heat up a large skillet, add butter and vegetable oil. Add fennel seeds, cumin seeds and black pepper corns

6.Add 2 cups hot water, cover with a lid and cook until done

One Pot Spicy Chicken Rice

Ingredients

  • Chicken – 500 gms
  • Vegetable oil – 1/2 Tbsp
  • Butter – 1/2 Tbsp
  • Fennel seeds – 1/2 Tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 Tsp
  • Whole black pepper corns – 1 Tsp
  • Onion – 2 medium, chopped
  • Chilly flakes – 1 Tsp
  • Turmeric – 1 Tsp
  • Basmati rice – 1 cup
  • Water – 2 cups
  • Lemon juice – 1 Tsp
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. Heat up a medium sized skillet and add oil
  2. Once the oil is hot, add fennel seeds, cumin seeds and whole black pepper corns.
  3. Fry off the spices for a minute.
  4. Add chopped onion and cook till soft.
  5. Then add turmeric powder and cook for a minute on slow flame.
  6. Add the chicken pieces, chilly flakes and stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
  7. Now add the one cup of basmati rice and stir fry for another 2 minutes.
  8. Pour 2 cups of hot water (hot water is preferred) and add salt.
  9. Let it boil, reduce the flame to simmer.
  10. Cover with a lid and cook until done.
  11. It should take about 18- 20 minutes.
  12. Remove the lid and add lemon juice.
  13. Stir gently to mix well and serve hot.
  14. Enjoy your One Pot Spicy Chicken Rice
