Nadan Parippu Curry

A very typical Kerala dish made from mung dal (green gram), cooked with coconut paste and spices.   Nadan Parippu Curry Recipe plays a very important role in ‘Onasadya’ (Sadya means Vegetarian feast) , in fact be it any sadya, parippu curry is a must.

Parippu curry is always served first with rice in sadyas, then sambar and other curries follow. I guess, everyone will agree with me if I say rice-parippu curry- pappadam combination is heavenly. I can go eat a pot full of rice with parippu curry and pappadam.

During sadya’s, melted ghee is drizzled on top of the Nadan Parippu Curry and then pappadam is mixed with the rice too. Well, I personally do not like ghee being drizzled over the parippu curry as ghee over powers the parippu curry flavors.

The recipe I am sharing today is what we normally make at home for Onasadya. Making this dish is very easy and requires very minimum cooking skills.
