Mutton Cutlet

A magnificent appetizer and an evening snack, which I will never miss at any occasion. Mutton cutlet is made of  minced cooked mutton and potatoes are mixed with mild spices, bread crumbed,then shallow fried and serve them with green chutney or tomato ketchup. I have shallow fried the cutlets in this recipe, you can also bake or deep fry them according to your diet and taste.

Ingredients

  • Mutton – 400 gms, boneless medium cubes
  • Potatoes – 2, medium
  • Onion – 1 small , chopped
  • Green chilly- 2, chopped
  • Giner-garlic paste -1 Tsp
  • Turmeric powder- 1 Tsp
  • Chilly powder – 1 Tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1/2 Tsp
  • Garam masala – 1Tsp
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • Bread crumbs – 1 cup
  • Egg – 2 each

Directions

  1. In a medium sized pot,cook the mutton with 1/2 tsp each of turmeric,chilly, coriander, garam masala powder and salt.
  2. When the meat is tender, remove from the fire and let it cool down.
  3. Mince the meat in a food processor or chopper.
  4. Boil the potatoes, mash them and keep aside.
  5. Heat oil in a skillet, saute the onion for a minute.
  6. Add green chilly, gingergarlic paste and cook.
  7. Add the powdered masalas now and cook well.
  8. Add the minced mutton , potato and mix well.
  9. Adjust the seasoning and let the mixture cool down a bit.
  10. Make even sized balls first and then roll them to desired shape.
  11. Dip them in the egg batter and them slowly roll them over the bread crumbs.
  12. Shallow fry them and serve hot with the sauce of your choice.
