Mushroom Ularthu

Mushroom Ularthu is a marvelous  preparation, which can be made in no time.  If you are tired of eating meat dishes or looking forward to have break, then go ahead! mushroom ularthu is worth a try.


  • Mushroom- 500 gms
  • Oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Curry leaves- 1 sprig
  • Shallots – 3 pcs
  • Garlic – 5 cloves
  • Onion– 1 medium, chopped
  • Green chilly- 2 pcs
  • Turmeric – 1 Tsp
  • Chilly powder – 1 Tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1/2 Tsp
  • Garam masala – 1 Tsp
  • Freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • Salt to taste


  1. Wash and cut mushrooms into quarters
  2. Heat up oil and add curry leaves to begin with.
  3. Crush together garlic and shallots and add it to the hot oil.
  4. Cook on a slow fire until the flavor is apparent.
  5. Add onion and continue to cook on a medium fire until light golden brown in color.
  6. Add the powdered masalas and cook well.
  7. Add cut mushroom, salt and ground black pepper.
  8. Cover with a lid and cook for 3 minutes on a medium fire.
  9. Remove the cover and increase fire to high and stir fry for 2-3 minutes.
  10. Now you have your mushroom ularthu ready.
