Masala Fried Kalava or Grouper

Masala marinated grouped is shallow fried and served with onion, carrot and chilly salad.There is nothing like fried grouper with carrot, onion, chilly salad for lunch. You can just eat the fish without any side dishes . This heavenly dish isĀ  crispy outside and soft inside with the salad on the side will drive you insane, I bet!

Ingredients

  • Grouper or Kalava fish – 1 Kg or 4 each
  • Turmeric – 1 Tsp
  • Chilly powder – 1 Tsp
  • Coriander powder – 1/2 Tsp
  • Gingergarlic paste- 1 Tbsp
  • Lemon juice – Tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Oil for frying
  • Oinion- 1, medium sliced
  • Carrot- 1 , sliced
  • bid eye chilly – 5 to 6 each
  • Lemon- 1

Directions

  1. Clean, wash and cut the fish.
  2. Slit the fish diagonally.
  3. To make the marinade, mix together powdered spices, lemon juice, gingergarlic paste and salt.
  4. Apply the marinade very well on both the side.
  5. Refrigerate the fish for 30 minutes before frying.
  6. Heat oil, slowly add the fish in to the oil.
  7. When the first side done, flip over and fry the other side as well.
  8. To make the salad, combine onion, carrot and chilly together and season it.
  9. Serve hot garnished with the saladĀ  and lemon wedges.
