This dal has got tuvar dal, msoor dal, mung dal and urad dal in it. Dal mix is available in almost every super market, you can try out any different dal combination you may want. You just need to mindful about the cooking time, as different dal cook differently.

Marvellous Mixed Dal & Quinoa Stew Recipe

Ingredients

  • Mix dal-250 gms
  • Quinoa – 250 gms, uncooked
  • Vegetable oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Onion -1, chopped
  • Garlic -1 Tsp, chopped
  • Garlic -1 Tsp, chopped
  • Turmeric -1/2 Tsp
  • Chilly powder -1 Tsp
  • Garam masala -1/2 Tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Butter – 1Tbsp

Directions

  1. Wash and soak the mixed dal for at least for an hour.
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a medium sized vessel, heat up oil.
  4. Saute onion, garlic and ginger for about 2 minutes.
  5. Add in salt now and it helps add layer of flavour
  6. Stir in powdered spices such as turmeric, garam masala and chilly powder
  7. Add dal mix and pour enough water to cover dal mix.
  8. Let it come to a boil.
  9. Then reduce the fire to simmer and let it cook through.
  10. When the dal mix is half the way through ( should take about 20 minutes) add in quinoa.
  11. Keep covered and cook for another 15-18 minutes.
  12. Dal mix and quinoa must cooked through by now.
  13. Using the back side of the spoon, smash the dal mix and quinoa little bit, this will help giving body to the stew.
  14. Adjust the seasoning and finish with butter.
  15. Dish out and serve. Enjoy.
