Kerala Style Spicy Chick Peas Salad is a healthy and easy snack or salad. Chick peas is boiled, then tossed with grated coconut, green chilly, onion, tomato, coconut oil and seasoning.

Chick peas salad is my one of my favorite salads, as this is pretty much versatile and goes with any meal of the day. I preferably eat this for my lunch as dish with chapathi or rice. Rice or chapathi, a curry dish and chick peas combo is unbelievably glorious. Well the best part about this salad is that, it tend make your meal light even if you are having a heavy meal. Those of you have tried this salad with meal, will agree with me.

A very easy to make salad. If you don not have the time to boil the chick peas, you can use the store bought one. Then in a bowl, take the chick peas, diced tomato, onion, grated coconut, green chilly, coconut oil (you can substitute coconut oil with any oil of your choice) and sprinkle salt and freshly ground black pepper, toss well and your salad is ready.

Kerala Style Spicy Chick Peas Salad Recipe..

Ingredients

  • Chick peas – 4oo gms
  • Coconut oil – 1 Tsp
  • Grated coconut – 3/4 Cup
  • Onion – 1 medium, chopped
  • Tomato – 1 medium, chopped
  • Green chilly – 2 chopped
  • Salt to taste
  • Freshly ground black pepper

Directions

  1. Soak chick peas over night.
  2. Boil chick peas until tender, strain and let it cool down.
  3. Chop onion, tomato, green chilly and keep aside.
  4. In a bowl, take all the ingredients, add coconut oil.
  5. Sprinkle salt and add freshly ground black pepper.
  6. Toss well to combine all the ingredients together.
  7. Adjust the seasoning.
  8. Serve cold.

Note: I prefer to use the coconut, but you can substitute coconut oil with any oil of your choice.
