Tomato Chutney & Dosa

This chutney is made of tomatoes only, I have chosen medium ripe tomatoes which are succulent and tangy. Goes very well with Idli and Dosa.

Tomato Chutney & Dosa Recipe


  • Tomatoes – 300 gms
  • Ginger – 10 gms
  • Garlic – 10 gms
  • Red chilly powder- 1 Tbsp
  • Turmeric – 1/2 Tsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Black pepper to taste
  • Vegetable oil – 1 Tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 Tsp


  1. Cut tomatoes roughly and take them in a  medium sized  pot.
  2. Add little bit of water, powdered masalas, ginger,garlic salt, pepper and bring to boil.
  3. Slow down the fire and cook on low flame for about 7-8 minutes stirring in between.
  4. Let the tomatoes cool on room temperature.
  5. In a food processor, blend the mixture to a smooth paste and set aside.
  6. Heat up the oil in a  skillet and splutter the seeds.
  7. Add the tomato paste and stir in.
