Garbanzo Beans (Chole)

Ingredients

  • Garbanzo beans -350 gms
  • Ghee/Oil- 1 tablespoon
  • Onion – 1,  diced
  • Ginger – 1 teaspoon, grated
  • Garlic – 1 teaspoon, minced
  • Tomato – 1/2 cup, diced
  • Cumin powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric – 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander powder  – 1 teaspoon
  • Chili powder – 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala – 1 teaspoon
  • Coriander leaves
  • Lemon juice- 1 tablespoon
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. In a pan heat oil, sauté onions, add garlic and ginger.
  2.  Cook for about 5 minutes.
  3.  Add tomatoes, and cumin, coriander, turmeric and chili powders, and salt to taste.
  4.  Cook for another 5 minutes.
  5.  Add garbanzo beans, boil for a few minutes.
  6.  Add garam masala, let it cook on slow fire.
  7.  Remove from stove.
  8.  Finish with lemon juice, coriander leaves and adjust the seasoning.
