What Is Poha? Poha is also called as flattened rice or beaten rice. Rice is par boiled first and flattened. Since the rice is par boiled before flattening it’s very easy cook or you can even eat without cooking them. Poha is originated from Indian sub-continent and Poha is a very famous breakfast item, also eaten as snacks.

Delicious Poha Recipe with step by step photos..

1.Wash and soak poha(flattened rice)

2.Drain the poha, set aside.

3.Heat up ghee, fry mustard seeds

4.Add cumin seeds, dried chilly

5.Chopped ginger and green chilly. Cook for a minute

6.Sliced onion and cook for 2-3 minutes.

7.Add turmeric. Cook until raw flavor goes off.

8.Add poha.

9.Cook for 2-3 minutes and season.

10.Poha is ready.

Ingredients

  • Poha or flattened rice – 250 gms
  • Ghee- 1 tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 3/4 tsp
  • Cumin seeds – 1/2 Tsp
  • Dried red chilly -2
  • Ginger – 1 Tsp, chopped
  • Green chilly – 2 slit
  • Almonds – 1 tbps, chopped
  • Cashew nuts – 1 Tbsp
  • Onion -1/2 cup, sliced
  • Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  • Salt to taste

Directions

  1. First of all wash and soak the flattened rice or poha for a minute (not more than a minute).
  2. Drain and set aside.
  3. Heat up a poy, add ghee.
  4. Add mustard seeds, fry for 30 seconds.
  5. Now add cumin seeds.
  6. Fry cumin seeds for 30 seconds.
  7. Add ginger and green chilly. Cook for a minute.
  8. Then add chopped almonds and cashew nuts.
  9. Cook for a minute and add sliced onions.
  10. Cook sliced onions until soft.
  11. Then add tumeric and cook until the raw flavor goes off.
  12. Now add soaked poha(flattened rice).
  13. Stir fry for 2 minutes.
  14. Season with salt.
  15. Now your delicious is ready.
  16. Enjoy.
