Besan Ladoo

Yet another famous ladoo recipe from India and a must have sweet during Diwali celebrations. Every North Indian household makes this during Diwali and distributes it among the neighbors.

This recipe gives about 16- 20 pieces of ladoo.


  • Besan/ Gram flour – 2 cups
  • Sugar – 1 cup, powdered
  • Ghee- 1/2 cup
  • Cardamom – 2 each, crushed


  1. In a kadai or a pan, dry roast the beasn flour.
  2. Continuously stir the beasn to make sure it does not stic to the bottom and burn
  3. In the mean time, melt the ghee and keep aside.
  4. Once you get the cooked flavor of the besan (approximately 10 minutes), add ghee.
  5. Continue too cook for about 5 minutes.
  6. When the strong and nutty flavor becomes apparent, remove from the fire.
  7. Add powdered sugar to it and mix well.
  8. Add the powdered cardamom and continue to mix, make sure there are no lumps.
  9. Once the mixture is completely cooled down, make even sized balls.
  10. Besan ladoo is ready to served.

Note: Besan ladoos can be stored in air tight containers for weeks.

It’s advisable keep the mixture inside the refrigerator for 5 minutes before you start to make the balls as this helps holding it well.
