Bell Pepper and Peanut Masala

This is a scrumptious lip smacking bell pepper and peanut masala, made with roasted and coarsely ground peanut is cooked slowly with bell peppers and Indian spices.

  • Green bell pepper – 500 gms
  • Peanut – 150 gms
  • Oil- 2 Tbsp
  • Mustard seeds – 1 Tsp
  • Dry chilly -2 nos
  • Cumin seeds – 1 Tsp
  • Onion – 1 medium, diced
  • Tomato– 1 medium, diced
  • Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  • Chilly powder – 1 Tsp
  • Coriander powder -1/2 Tsp
  • Grated coconut – 100 gms, (1/2 cup)
  • Cilantro/ coriander leaves – 1 Tbsp, chopped
  • Freshly crushed black pepper
  • Salt to taste


  1. Cut onion, tomato into small dices.
  2. Cut bell peppers into big dices.
  3. Heat oil in a skillet, splutter mustard seeds.
  4. Add curry leaves, cumin seeds and dry chilly, saute for a minute.
  5. Add onion, saute until soft.
  6. Add turmeric powder, chilly powder and salt and cook well.
  7. Add tomato and cook.
  8. Add diced bell peppers, cover it with a lid and cook on a slow flame.
  9. Dry roast the coconut and add it to the cooked mixture.
  10. Dry roast the peanut and coarsely grind them in a food processor.
  11. Add it to the bell peppers.
  12. Add crushed black pepper and adjust the seasoning.
  13. Finish with freshly chopped coriander leaves .
  14. Serve hot garnished with roasted peanut and coriander leaves.
